Mariposa Village

Mariposa Village will be a vibrant, sustainable, and multigenerational affordable housing community located on approximately seven acres in Hood River, Oregon. The development will provide 108 units across four multifamily buildings and 22 townhomes to households earning 30% – 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

For over 20 years, Hood River has boomed as a tourist destination and desirable place to live due to its proximity to recreational opportunities. The affordable housing stock in the area has not met the demand. Mariposa Village will be the most significant number of new affordable housing units in Hood River in over 11 years. Developed in partnership by Community Development Partners (CDP) and Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation (CCHC), the project aims to alleviate an increasingly urgent affordable housing crisis in Hood River and its surrounding region.

Community Spaces

Various amenities aim to foster community among residents. The community building—a “hub” of the project—provides a variety of gathering areas, including a classroom/meeting space.

The development incorporates CDP’s Community for All Ages model – a holistic design and programming approach that promotes intergenerational connections and lifelong learning. One of the six residential buildings will be dedicated to senior housing, which centers on greater accessibility and community building. Two townhome buildings will each house 11 units, with three smaller apartment buildings housing the remaining units.

Embracing the Landscape

Taking advantage of the surrounding natural environment, the site features a children’s play area, park, community gardens, walking trails, and green spaces.

The design emphasizes preserving and enhancing the natural environment surrounding the project. Mariposa Village is targeting Salmon Safe and Gold National Green Building Standard certifications, while the community building is anticipated to receive Energy Trust of Oregon’s Net Zero certification. An approximately .25-acre wetland, located near the central portion of the site, will remain untouched and unharmed. It will be incorporated into the larger park on the development and will be protected from construction activities.
