Home Forward Grace Peck Terrace

Holst has worked with Home Forward on renovating and preserving its portfolio of existing affordable housing buildings, with a particular focus on those serving our community’s most vulnerable populations. Grace Peck Terrace is the fifth project as part of the renovations that Holst has designed.

Completed in summer 2024, Grace Peck Terrace is a six-story, 95-unit apartment building located in the historic Irvington neighborhood. The renovation addresses significant maintenance issues as well as aesthetic upgrades.

A new façade design retains existing balconies and includes an exterior re-skin.

Carefully selected contextual and durable materials complement the historic Irvington neighborhood character and ensure the building's longevity. Cooler, calming color tones are layered onto the façade in combination with maintaining the long, ribbon windows, which are characteristic of buildings from this time. Horizontal and vertical layering of materials using the balconies, ribbon windows, and blue metal panels are balanced by large monolithic end walls.

The design adds multiple new outdoor terrace spaces for residents to enjoy.

Lush landscaping roots the building into its context while also providing a framework for the arrangement of the various outdoor seating zones. Additional upgrades to entries, community space, and residential units provide residents with a durable and enriching environment.

Studio Petretti provided interior architecture services for the project.
