David Machado Restaurants

For more than a decade, Holst has worked with David Machado Restaurants to bring fine dining and drinking establishments to Portland’s vibrant food scene. Together, and in collaboration with forward-thinking hotel developers, we have created Nel Centro, Altabira City Tavern, Citizen Baker, and most recently, Pullman Wine Bar & Merchant.

Pullman Wine Bar & Merchant

Pullman Wine Bar & Merchant brings a combination retail and dining concept to Portland’s Lloyd District. Located in the southwest corner of Hotel Eastlund, the project occupies a corner retail space facing the Convention Center. A retail wine display, a bar serving small plates and wine by the glass, and a private dining/tasting room feature custom millwork and contemporary, monochromatic materials.

Nel Centro

As the restaurant in boutique Hotel Modera, Nel Centro subtly connects the lobby to the bar, balancing existing and new materials while also integrating the indoors with the outdoors with generous natural light and views. In addition to the bar lounge and dining areas, both the lobby extension and outdoor patio provide additional spaces for guests to gather and socialize.

Altabira City Tavern

Altabira City Tavern is an American beer-centric restaurant and bar. Situated on the top floor of the Hotel Eastlund, Altabira offers sweeping views of downtown and an outdoor terrace with fire pits, wind breaks, and heaters for use year-round.

Citizen Baker

Citizen Baker is a light-filled, modern bakery and café on the ground floor of Hotel Eastlund.
