Email

Marty joined Holst with six years of experience managing projects in the field of design, beginning with interior design and transitioning into architecture as they pursue their Master of Architecture from Portland State University with a focus on Public Interest Design. Marty’s strong interest in Trauma-Informed Design is fueled by their independent research into the field of mental health in addition to their lived experience being part of the LGBTQ+ community and with PTSD. They are passionate about discovering ways in which architecture can be adapted to support neurodivergent people, support the healing process at the individual and collective level, and how it promotes healthy relationships to both the built environment and one another.

Currently Marty is working on the City of Hillsboro Year-Round Shelter, a shelter designed with trauma-informed principles. The goal of the project will be to create an environment that promotes healing, safety, dignity, and housing connections in the community.
